The Opportunity

 

Recreation and Culture Services builds vibrant, healthy, active and connected communities by providing facilities and programs that give all Barrie residents an opportunity to participate in recreational activities. Key responsibilities include identifying community recreation needs and interests, developing and delivering recreation opportunities which meet these needs and interests, maintaining and operating recreational and cultural facilities to provide a setting for these activities, and managing the provision of space to external community providers and groups.

 

Under the general guidance and direction of the Recreation Supervisor position, the Recreation Programmer (Inclusion) position is responsible for creating, developing and implementing inclusion recreation programs, services and/or special events that meet the needs and interests of the residents of the City of Barrie. Specifically, this position oversees the delivery of inclusion recreation programs; assesses and evaluates inclusion recreation programs; and networks, liaises and partners with various stakeholders to coordinate, facilitate and collaborate in the delivery of inclusion recreation programs, services and special events.   Overall, this position plays an integral role in reducing the barriers to recreation programs within the City of Barrie in order to provide a more accessible and inclusive recreation environment for individuals with disabilities and/or unique needs.

Other Important Information

 

Location: Peggy Hill Team Community Centre (171 Mapleton Avenue, Barrie, Ontario) & East Bayfield Community Centre (80 Livingstone Street East, Barrie, Ontario

 

Hours: The normal hours of work are 35 hours per week in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

 

Wage: This position is within the CUPE Local 2380 Bargaining Unit with the following pay level and 2024 pay range:

 

Benefits: This position includes single or family health and dental benefits, prorated paid sick time based on the expected duration of employment, and prorated vacation time based on calendar year and in accordance with the  Employment Standards Act .
