Description The
Electrical Engineer plays an essential role within a construction company specialized in building and/or civil engineering projects. Responsible for designing, supervising, and coordinating the electrical systems of projects, they contribute to ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of electrical installations in compliance with standards and regulations.
Responsibilities •Design and develop electrical schematics for building and/or civil engineering projects, considering applicable standards and regulations.
•Supervise the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems on construction sites, ensuring work is completed according to project specifications and schedules.
•Coordinate with other design and construction teams to integrate electrical systems with other disciplines such as plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), and structural engineering.
•Perform electrical load calculations to determine power supply, distribution, and overload protection requirements.
•Select appropriate electrical equipment, such as transformers, distribution panels, cables, and fixtures, considering performance, cost, and durability.
•Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards on construction sites, implementing safe practices and supervising staff training.
•Conduct inspections and tests on electrical installations to ensure proper functioning and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
•Participate in project coordination meetings to provide updates on electrical progress and address any issues that arise.
Requirements •Degree in electrical engineering or related field.
•Valid engineering license, or in the validation process.
•Experience in designing, managing, and supervising electrical projects in the construction industry is an asset.
•Thorough knowledge of provincial and local electrical codes.
•Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software used in the construction industry.
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team, while adhering to project deadlines and budgets.
•Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
•Availability to travel to construction sites as required by the project.
