Background
The Chu Níikwän Development Corporation, through its wholly owned subsidiary Eagle Hill Energy LP (EHELP), is in the final stages of delivering the Yukon’s first commercial-scale wind power project located on Haeckel Hill (the Project). The Project consists of four (4) 1MW technologically advanced cold-climate wind turbines that will produce an estimated 7.8 GWh’s of clean energy per year, supplied to the Yukon Integrated Electrical Grid for the next 20-25 years.
This 100% Indigenous-owned renewable energy initiative is supported by the federal, territorial and Kwanlin Dün First Nation (KDFN) governments and represents an enormous first step in achieving the Yukon’s clean energy future. The successful operation of the Project will result in maximized clean energy generation, particularly in the winter, when Yukoners need it most.
The Job
This posting is for a full-time permanent position.
This position will involve travel to and from the Project and 24/7 on-call work.
The pay is commensurate with experience, starting at $70,000-$75,000/year.
EHELP is looking for a reliable, responsive, and resourceful individual to fulfil the role of Project Operator who will provide local oversight including the management of general maintenance and operations, coordination of 3 rd party maintenance contractors, and conduct special-interest tours, resulting in the safe and successful operation, and representation of the Haeckel Hill Wind Energy Project.
The Project Operator will be the face of the Project on behalf of the owner, Chu Níikwän Development Corporation, and the Kwanlin Dün First Nation. It will be the Project Operator’s personal relationships with the general public, local media, and social media that will represent the Project’s greatest opportunities to achieve and demonstrate success, both locally, and across northern Canada
The successful candidate will be available, ideally within a few hours’ notice to respond to the Project Site.
