Job Summary:
To oversee the safe and efficient operation of several assigned lifts within a zone on Whistler and/or Blackcomb, in addition to building and supporting a strong team of attentive and friendly lift staff.
Job Responsibilities:
- To continually strive to exceed our Guest’s expectations and to create experiences of a lifetime for staff and guests.
- Set an excellent example and strives to continually improve in safety, service and job satisfaction.
- Assist with the selection, training and development of staff, exceeding present standards
- Conduct employee reviews and participate in employee recognition programs.
- Ensure adherence to all operational and safety procedures, resulting in safe and efficient operation of the lift and other equipment (trucks, snowmobiles, etc.) and providing a safe environment for guests and staff.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining all operational aspects of the lift including ramps, mazes, tools and signs. Maintain the highest house-keeping standards, ensuring a groomed, uncluttered, litter-free environment.
- Provide leadership, promote team spirit and cooperative work ethics; provide the most outstanding examples of friendly, cooperative relationships with our guests, other staff and within the Lift Team.
- Show initiative in handling routine matters and quick, thoughtful judgment in emergency situations.
- Is vigilant of and informs manager of (or corrects) unusual or unsafe situations not only in an assigned zone, but anywhere on Whistler Blackcomb.
- Prior to public operation of any lift, ensure all safety and operational procedures are complete.
- Assign lift hosts to their stations on a daily basis.
- Ensure proper and complete documentation of lift logs, incident and maintenance forms.
- Attend and participate in all employee meetings.
- Assume responsibility of a Lift Zone and Lift Team and provide leadership and coaching.
- At every opportunity, greet every guest in a friendly manner, making eye contact whenever possible.
- Initiate and participate with animation

- Always show up on time, in uniform (including a nametag) and adhere to the grooming policy!
Job Qualifications:
- Must be well groomed, in good physical condition.
- Must be mature, energetic and dependable, with the ability to take initiative and work unsupervised.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and guest relations skills
- Must be a strong skier or snowboarder
- Ability to set the standard in the industry for efficient, safe operation – understanding of the Z98 requirements for operating lift operations in both winter and summer environments
- Must have previous lift experience in a fast pace, high volume, year round mountain resort
- Experience operating and training staff in the operation of high volume year round gondola operations is an asset
- Experience operating and training staff in the operation of fast pace, high volume Bike Park lift operations is an asset
- Experience in training new, inexperienced staff on all areas of lift operations in both summer and winter operations is an asset
- Must have a good, basic knowledge of mechanics used on lifts and be capable of troubleshooting on all lift equipment – particularly on a variety of gondolas in both winter and summer
- Must satisfactorily complete the required lift exams
- A proven record as a team leader and motivator in high volume, fast pace mountain resort operations is an asset
- One + years of service at Whistler Blackcomb is an asset
- One + year of experience in Gondola operations is an asset
- Experience leading a team of lift operations staff in a ski and boarding learning area is an asset
- Proof of clear criminal record check
