Bureau Veritas is looking for a
Instrumentation Specialist, Petroleum Testing– Fulltime (Night-Shift)
DESCRIPTION:
- Perform maintenance and repair of analytical equipment:
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and analysts to determine the problem’s cause and make necessary repairs
- Document repair actions
- Regularly review instrument repair documentation to identify trends and ways to improve instrument performance
- Organize storage of all instrument related documents, warranties, manuals and software
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with equipment vendors to provide maintenance and repair expertise as required
- Train analysts so that they can perform increasingly complicated repairs and maintenance on the analytical equipment
- Depending on skill level, instruct analysts on how to perform maintenance so that dependency on the instrumentation staff will be diminished
- Show analysts how to troubleshoot instrument problems
- Demonstrate proper documentation of maintenance activities to all staff
- Inform supervisors of any non-conformances in documenting equipment maintenance and repairs
- Manage maintenance information in Maintenance Care software to ensure they are current and relevant to sample volume and data delivery obligations
- Maintain maintenance information for all analytical equipment
- Review the maintenance information regularly to look for trends and opportunities for improvement
- Assist to develop maintenance efficiencies and improvements to minimize instrument downtime
- Keep up to date on current software versions for instruments and identify which ones will be beneficial to operations
- Work with vendors to identify opportunities to improve current maintenance and operational practices
- Effectively communicate instrument operational conditions to management and staff
- Use all forms of communication required to ensure critical issues are being addressed / proper resources are allocated
- Initiate NSC’s for non-conformances that affect instrument downtime and Bureau Vertias’ ability to meet client requirements
- Develop and maintain a “critical parts” inventory to ensure that spare parts will be on-hand when needed
- Document inventory list and save electronically where it is accessible to Instrument Maintenance and senior staff
- Coordinate with Admin and Shipping/Receiving personnel to ensure that parts are in inventory or on order
- Obtain approval from supervisors or managers to make purchases above your purchase limit
- Review the inventory list regularly and adjust for changing volumes, equipment changes and other reasons for changing demands
- All other responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATION: - Technical diploma in Instrumentation Technology or related post-secondary discipline
- 3-5 years progressive experience in a related role
- Proven aptitude for trouble-shooting and fixing a variety of instrumentation
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Proven experience and knowledge of a variety of measurement techniques
- Excellent problem solving, trouble shooting and root cause analysis skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good mentoring and coaching skills, with the ability to work individually as well as in a team environment
- Ability to work effectively in an unstructured environment with minimal supervision
- Strong sense of urgency and the ability to adapt as needed
- Strong time management, communication, multi-tasking and priority setting skills
- Strong attention to detail and record keeping skills
- Able to assess problems and recommend solutions
