Job description

As a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Operator, your primary task is to prepare, program and monitor CNC machines to perform precise manufacturing operations. Here is a detailed description of your responsibilities:

1. Machine preparation: You must ensure that all CNC machines are set up correctly before use. This involves mounting and adjusting cutting tools, loading raw materials into the machine and setting the appropriate parameters.

2. Programming: You will need to use CAD (Computer Aided Design) and CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) software to create CNC programs that tell the machine how to perform cutting and shaping operations. You will also need to perform tests and simulations to ensure that programs run correctly.

3. Monitor machine operations: While running programs, you will need to carefully monitor CNC machines to ensure they are operating properly and producing high-quality results. You will need to make adjustments and corrections where necessary, such as replacing worn tools or adapting cutting parameters.

4. Quality Control: You will need to carry out regular quality checks using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and comparators. It is important to verify that the dimensions and characteristics of the manufactured parts comply with the required specifications.

5. Preventative Maintenance: You will be responsible for preventive maintenance of CNC machines, including cleaning, lubricating and replacing worn parts to ensure their proper operation and durability.

6. Troubleshooting Technical Problems: When technical problems arise, such as program errors or machine malfunctions, you will need to diagnose and resolve problems quickly and efficiently. You will also need to report complex issues to your supervisor if necessary.

7. Compliance with safety standards: You must always follow safety instructions to avoid accidents and injuries. This involves wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, properly maintaining machinery and knowing emergency procedures.

As a CNC operator, your technical competence, attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure are essential. You will also be required to collaborate with other members of the production team to ensure smooth coordination and communication.
