The Faculty of Education, Simon Fraser University, seeks applications for two full-time temporary (1 year, with possibility of extension) positions for a Limited Term Lecturer in the Counselling Psychology program. Applicants who can contribute to the teaching of any of the core counselling courses, and offer clinical supervision are encouraged to apply. The final selection of candidates will be based on the best overall demonstration of potential for contribution to the program.

End Date: April 30, 2025

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree in Counselling Psychology or related field
• Registration with relevant professional body (BCACC, CCPA, or BC College of Psychologists)
• Minimum 5 years clinical practice experience
• Supervisory competencies (e.g. CCPA’s Canadian Certified Counsellor-supervisor designation or Graduate level training in counsellor supervision) and experience conducting clinical supervision
• Ability to teach practice-oriented courses and provide clinic supervision

Responsibilities

• Teach counselling related courses and programming at both the undergraduate and graduate level, work with pre- practicum and practicum students.
• Courses to be taught: EDUC 323; EDUC 324; EDUC 327; EDUC 328; or EDUC 423 and EDUC 871 or EDUC 873; and EDUC 877; EDUC 799 and EDUC 800 https://www.sfu.ca/students/calendar/2024/spring/courses/educ.html  

Assets

• Experience designing and delivering courses in three or more of the key teaching areas of the program including: supervised clinical practice, school counselling, counselling skills and strategies, assessment, ethics, group counselling, career counselling, multicultural counselling and family counselling.
• Experience working with clients of diverse and marginalized backgrounds including Indigenous and newcomer clients
• Capacity to practice and supervise from a multicultural social justice perspective

Able to contribute to Faculty priorities of Equity, Indigeneity and Inquiry

Faculty salaries at SFU are based on the salary scales bargained between the University and the SFU Faculty Association. A reasonable estimate of the salary range for a full-time lecturer position is $84,049 – $98,057. The University and the SFU Faculty Association have recently reached a new agreement.
