Introduction

Environment and Climate Change, Parks, North Whiteshell Provincial Park is looking for qualified individuals to fill dual class Labourer/Operator 1 positions. These Positions are located in the North Whiteshell Provincial Park.  An eligibility list may be created for similar positions for the 2024/25 season and will remain in effect for 12 months to fill vacancies in the North Whiteshell (Rennie and Seven Sisters Falls). 

Conditions of Employment:

• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

• Must possess and maintain a valid full stage Manitoba class 5 driver's licence.
• Must be physically able to perform the duties assigned to the position  including lifting approximately 23 kg of weight an standing for prolonged periods.
• Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, statutory holidays and shift work.

Qualifications:

Essential:

• Experience operating and maintaining small and large equipment such as chain saws, brush saws, push mowers, riding mowers, light automotive vehicles (ie: Gators, ATV) etc.
• Experience working with the public and co-workers and the ability to deal with stressful situations.
• Knowledge of safe working practices.
• Experience keeping and maintaining written records.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

• Experience in grounds and building upkeep and janitorial work.
• Experience with common hand tools.

Duties:

Under the supervision of the Park Works Supervisor, the Labourer performs a variety of heavy and light manual duties associated with construction, maintenance, and works operations; including janitorial duties and general maintenance of grounds and facilities, and may be required to operate various small equipment and tools.  The Operator 1 will be required to operate various equipment including specialized mowers, light motor vehicles, and other small equipment.  The Operator may also be required to perform maintenance and minor repairs on equipment, as well as keep daily operating and maintenance records.
