Job Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Healthy Babies Healthy Children this temporary, full time position will support the Healthy Families Division through leading a team of professionals in the delivery of the provincially mandated Healthy Babies Healthy Children program.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide supervision, clinical support, and performance management to the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Team staff.
- Recruit staff in collaboration with management team.
- Responsible for the accurate and consistent application of the ONA 1 Collective Agreement.
- Analyze service levels and performance indicators to assist the Manager in evaluating program efficacy.
- Develop and implement necessary policies, procedures, protocols incorporating current evidence based leading best practices.
- Monitor achievement objectives established by the health department and Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services and report to the Manager on indicators required.
- Responsible for quality assurance of program outcomes through evaluation of service outcomes, service review meetings and documentation review.
- Provides consultation for staff members in relation to assessment, planning and evaluation of care.
- Participates on Divisional, Departmental, Interdepartmental, Corporate and community committees as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing which includes preparation in Public Health Nursing.
- A current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience in a public health environment.
- Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience.
- Experience working with at-risk families.
- Knowledge of public health, human services, determinants of health and extensive knowledge of legislation and mandates governing the Healthy Babies Healthy Children program.
- Strong knowledge of early years growth and development and effective interventions.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, coach, influence and motivate staff.
- Knowledge of Quality Assurance, program performance measurement and the ability to implement necessary policies, procedures, protocols incorporating evidence informed practices.
- Political acumen, partnership building, and the ability to work collaboratively across programs and departments in Halton Region.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Public Health, Nursing or other relevant area.
An equivalent amount of education and experience will be considered.

- Flexibility in working hours is required as there may be periodic meetings and functions outside of regular business hours.
