This role will be based out of the Fort McMurray Machine shop and is a permanent opportunity. 

What would you be doing?

• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications.
• Use different welding processes and fillers depending upon the type of metal, its size and shape, and requirements for finished product strength weld parts together.
• Use of manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces using processes such as gas tungsten arc (TIG or GTAW), gas metal arc (MIG or GMAW), flux-cored arc (FAW), plasma arc (PAW), shielded metal arc (SMAW), oxy-acetylene (OAW), resistance welding and submerged arc welding (SAW).
• May operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
• Repair worn parts of metal products by welding on extra layers.
• Clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch.
• Working in both the machine shop and the field and able to work in any weather condition.

Does this sound like you?

• Journeyperson Red Seal Welding Certificate.
• CWB Certification. 
• Valid Class 5 Drivers License.
• Valid B Pressure, CSTS and CSO tickets or is willing to obtain.
• Forklift, Zoom Boom, Skid Steer, and JLG experience an asset.
• H2S, Fall Arrest and Arial Work Platform are considered assets.
• Proficient in English, both written and verbal communication required.
• Physically capable of performing all necessary duties of the job, including but not limited to heavy pulling, pushing and lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, shovelling, bending, twisting, etc.

Other important details

This position has been identified as a safety sensitive position and will require completion of drug and alcohol testing, audiogram, and may require a maskfit.
