Job description
SAGKEENG CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES (SCFS)is looking for a FULL-TIME MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN . You practice empathy, understanding and patience. You promote a safe therapeutic environment. You will be joining a creative, initiative, and dynamic multi-disciplinary team. You are knowledgeable of SCFS, Sagkeeng First Nation and Indigenous culture. This position reports to SCFS Biidaaziiway Gamik Unit Clinical Director. SCFS offers competitive salary and benefits
Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in social services (Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Education (Clinical/Counselling)). Related field and experience will be considered.
- Three (3) years’ recent, related experience working with children, youth and families in a mental health setting or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current membership/registration with the appropriate registering/licensing body.
- Valid MB Driver’s License. Travel will require the use of a personal vehicle.
Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of Manitoba’s health and social welfare system.
- Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of behavioural, social, emotional, and mental health/psychiatric problems in children and youth.
- Knowledgeable of mental illness diagnosis, treatment, and psychopharmacology (indications and side-effects).
- Knowledgeable of psychotherapeutic and counseling skills.
- Knowledgeable of other facilities and community resources.
- Demonstrated ability to perform psychosocial assessments and provide treatment planning and care.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to establish workload priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to take clinical input and direction.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrated ability to problem solve.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with conflict and crisis situations.
- Demonstrated ability to provide consultation, leadership, and work direction.
