Job description
The Property Accountant will manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties, responsible for providing accurate and timely financial packages
Job Duties:
- Preparing monthly financial reporting packages, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Preparing accrual/adjusting entries and assisting in year-end procedures;
- Responding to financial and accounting enquiries from Property Management; providing financial analysis and ad hoc reporting as requested;
- Preparing bank reconciliations for assigned portfolio;
- Reconciling and filing GST remittances;
- Reviewing tenancy agreements or commercial leases for accurate billing and compliance with financial terms; processing move-ins and move outs;
- Ensuring tenant information is accurate and up to date including reviewing and posting rent roll, and then processing monthly PAP’s;
- Coordinating and providing support during Trust audit;
- Other duties as assigned by management;
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience: Minimum 1-2 years of experience in accounting role (residential property accounting experience preferred);
- Excellent knowledge and experience related to technology and accounting systems in a real estate environment (Yardi preferred);
- Strong understanding and application of GAAP and full-cycle financial statement preparation;
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively and professionally with cross-functioning teams;
- Excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities within structured deadlines;
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality documentation and deliverables
