Job description
On the banks of the St. John River, Fredericton is the beautiful capital of New Brunswick, one of the fastest growing cities in Atlantic Canada, and one of Canada's most dynamic and thriving small cities. The successful candidate will join a talented team of professional planners delivering both current planning and policy development services to the community.
The Junior Heritage Planner will have the opportunity to learn from the Manager of Heritage and Urban Design and our professional planning team and will be responsible for undertaking heritage initiatives, research projects, and the preparation and presentation of reports to the Preservation Review Board. We are looking for an entry-level professional with a passion for both heritage and urban planning. We require excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate should also have a keen interest in developing their public engagement and presentation skills sets.
The Junior Planner will have the opportunity to develop a broad range of real-world urban planning skills in a busy department. Fredericton has a number of award-winning planning documents and a progressive new Municipal Plan which places emphasis on creating complete new neighbourhoods, increased density, and a commitment to infill and new development in the City's core.
This competition seeks either a Junior Heritage Planner or a Junior Planner. Applicants are asked to identify whether they wish to be considered for one or both positions.
