Wesdome Gold Mines has had over 30 years of continuous gold mining operations in Canada. The Company is 100% Canadian focused with a pipeline of projects in various stages of development. The Company’s strategy is to build Canada’s next intermediate gold producer, producing 200,000+ ounces from two mines in Ontario and Quebec. The Eagle River Complex in Wawa, Ontario is currently producing gold the Eagle River Underground Mine. Wesdome is actively exploring its brownfields asset, the Kiena Complex in Val d’Or, Quebec. The Kiena Complex is a fully permitted former mine with a 930-metre shaft and 2,000 tonne-per-day mill. The Company trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol “WDO”.
SUMMARY
Reporting to the Chief Engineer and the Lead Surveyor, the Mine Surveyor will assist with daily surveying of the underground and surface locations and assist in updating the Deswik master files with the most recent information, and in collaboration with the other Surveyors the incumbent will ensure the mine and engineering departments survey requirements are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES PERFORMED
- Assisting with Daily Surveys
- Updating Drawings in Deswik and in AutoCAD
- Issuing Updated Layouts
- Maintaining Survey Equipment
- Occasional Ventilation Work as Required
- Ensure that safety rules and regulations are followed and respected. Worker safety is the responsibility of all employees.
- Assuring that the Wesdome surveying procedures and the surveying guidelines set by the Lead Surveyor are followed.
- Providing line and grade for development
- Marking up long hole reference lines
- Surveying lines for diamond drilling and pick up final holes
- Surveying various surface locations
- Issuing updated layouts to the mine department
- Preparing tonnage and advance calculations for month end
- CMS and Drone Surveys
- Survey production holes
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Possess a technical background related to the position.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience surveying in an underground environment.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Deswik, Excel or other mine planning software.
- Strong organization and time management skills;
- Aptitude for assimilating survey equipment and procedures.
- Well developed computer skills.
WORK SCHEDULE
- 14 days on / 14 days off, 7 days on / 7 days off, 4 days on / 3 days off
- Location: Eagle River Complex – North of Wawa, Ontario
- Meals and accommodations are provided while on shift at Eagle River
