Purpose of Role
The Technical Product Manager role is a direct link between our markets and the Research & Development department. This role incorporates a wide range of responsibilities, including bringing new products to the market, ensuring the continued success of established products, and identifying opportunities to develop new products that solve customer problems.
Technical Product Managers work closely alongside Global Product Managers for strategic direction, as well as with Application Engineering and Sales to obtain direct market feedback. They also interact with the market directly through visits to sales agencies and distributors, trade shows, event marketing, and in-person training.
Additionally, Technical Product Managers work closely with R&D engineering, during the planning, development and launch phases of a product. Following the completion of a project they support the market introduction by identifying launch customers, developing documentation, training sales forces, planning launch activities, and working alongside marketing to launch products.
This is a highly diverse role that offers exposure to all that goes into a product from conception to eventual phase-out.

Collect and share local market intelligence:
- Conduct market research and market intelligence gathering
- Identify market opportunities and applications with a high likelihood of sales success
- Collect market feedback and identify opportunities to evolve product offerings
- Coordinate product roadmap with Global Product Managers
Contribute to product development projects:
- Assist Global Product Managers with the development of business cases
- Support requirements engineering tasks with market and technical input
- Support project teams during R&D, design review, and field trial phases of projects
- Provide technical support for field trial equipment
- Execute phase-in and phase-out planning activities
Drive product launch activities:
- Develop market introduction plans with Sales, Marketing, and distribution partners
- Compile market introduction packages and technical documentation
- Conduct initial trainings and provide initial sales support for sales and distribution partners
- Visit launch customers and support opportunities for key accounts
- Evaluate technical feedback from the market and support the resolution of any initial problems
Plan Product Improvements:
- Rank, prioritize, and plan development activities according to available resources
- Collaborate on product roadmap development
- Assist with annual resource requirements planning and budgets
Product Success:
- Own KPI reports and business performance metrics to drive continuous improvement
- Collect customer feedback and needs, and translate into backlog inputs
- Groom and manage the product backlog
- Create and maintain sales support tools (HELP Software, CondairParts.com, customer newsletters, datasheets, installation instructions, etc.)
- Drive spare part business through kits and spares strategies
- Support resolution of product issues through the Product Care team
- Maintain and update assigned products in showrooms and tradeshow displays
Provide 3rd level product support:
- Support escalated issues by e-mail or phone
- Support reconstruction, failure investigation, testing engineering laboratory
- Provide timely, competent, and effective on-site support for critical sites
Maintain department Work Instructions and ISO Documentation
Up to 25% domestic and international travel is required.

Professional Skills, Qualifications, and Competencies
- Education and Experience: Engineering, Technical, or Business Degree. Three (3) or more years of experience in an engineering, technical marketing, or product management environment is an asset.
- Language Skills: Excellent verbal, writing and comprehension skills in English. Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity and expressiveness with the English language. Demonstrated ability to communicate technically, in writing and verbally. Above-average written communication and editing skills. German, French, and/or other languages are considered an asset.
- Ability to Reason: Strong planning and organization skills are required. Ability to prioritize work, set targets, and make decisions. Ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure. Familiarity with milestone-based project methodologies is an asset.
- Computer Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics CRM, AHA!, and/or enterprise resource planning systems (SAP) is an asset. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
- Certificates/Licenses: Professional Engineering license (P. Eng) is an asset.
- Other: Proven ability to work in Canada and the ability to travel abroad (USA, Europe) as required. Confidence presenting in front of groups.

- Regularly use a computer workstation
- Regularly stand, bend, and twist for the purpose of setting up events and in-house meetings

37.5 – 40 hours per week, depending on workload, is anticipated. Periodic travel over evenings and weekends. This is a challenging and demanding position, and it is crucial to our success.
