We're hiring Food Service Supervisors!
Location: Medicine Hat, Alberta On-site
Join our dynamic team as a Food Service Supervisor responsible for concession operations within the City of Medicine Hat. The 2 supervisors will be responsible for scheduling and supervising staff, menu planning, ordering supplies, maintaining food services equipment, handling cash receipts and deposits, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and guidelines.
Primary Accountabilities:
- Provide leadership to the team, offering guidance, direction, and constructive feedback.
- Coordinate and approve staff scheduling, attendance, training, and certification.
- Develop and update menu costing, recipes, and menu specifications.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers and participate in procurement evaluations.
- Manage inventory control in accordance with City policies.
- Perform effective cash handling and reconciliation procedures.
- Coordinate set up and catering for community events, hospitality riders, and internal/external clients.
What you bring:
- Demonstrated knowledge of concession procedures, cash reconciliation, and inventory management.
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication (both oral & written) skills.
- Proficient in fostering a constructive, positive, trusting work environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of FOODSAFE, ProServe, and Occupation Health & Safety regulations and guidelines.
- Organizational skills, ability to manage multiple responsibilities, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledgeable in standard office management practices, basic accounting principles, and point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and navigate difficult situations.
Required Qualifications:
- Successful completion of Grade 12 or a high school equivalency diploma.
- Three (3) years supervisory experience in Food Services.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Successful completion of a course in safe food handling (i.e. FOODSAFE).
- Successful completion of a course in alcohol service (i.e. ProServe program).
- Successful completion of Certified Concession Manager (CCM) program would be an asset.
- Equivalent combination of management-approved training and education may be considered.
- This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
