First Truck Centre, doing business as Velocity Truck Centres, is currently accepting resumes for a General Manager.
Reporting to the President VTC Canada, the General Manager (GM) will be accountable for overseeing our business operations in an assigned region. The GM will be accountable for leading and managing daily operations to achieve business goals and maximize profitability. The GM duties also include guiding management staff in their assigned region, setting performance objectives, evaluating, and optimizing operational performance, ensuring regulatory and company standards are upheld, and preparing operations and financial reports.
In addition, the GM will be accountable to lead and manage people, ensure operations run smoothly, and achieve revenue targets.

Principal Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and influence the operations in the region - interfacing with all levels within the operational area - and ensure a consistent delivery of the First Truck Centre brand.
- Lead, manage and influence infrastructure maintenance items for the facilities including working with third party providers and suppliers. Participate as a local representation on building construction for new facilities or facility modifications.
- Assists with the identification, establishment and implementation of operational best practice policies and procedures; incorporates lean principles, and effects continual improvements in operational methods, equipment, service procedures and work conditions across all locations.
- Assists with the creation and implementation, through the site leadership teams, of best practice processes to manage the operations daily including training effectiveness, staff development, metrics, and communication protocols.
- Promotes integrated operational processes throughout area towards a common Company operational structure.
- Collaborating with the President VTC Canada and the site leadership teams, manage the site's capital expenditure programs in line with Company policies and procedures.
- Analyzes site performance through KPIs and reports.
- Collaborates with the Company Health, Safety and Environmental area to implement, promote and manage a positive health and safety culture, an accident and injury free work environment, and compliance with all corporate and government safety and environmental policies.
- Collaborates with the Company Human Resources department to implement, promote and manage a positive culture, as well as a direct workplace compliance with all corporate policies.
- Reviews and evaluates operating results of area regularly, comparing against established budgets, goals, and objectives, and recommends appropriate measures to enhance outcomes. Systematically reports these results to the COO; meets regularly with site management to refine delegated performance.
- Foster team spirit and build high-functioning local teams. Work with cross functional teams within FTS to create development plans for direct reports and ensure processes are cascaded down throughout the organization.
- Ensures all Human Resources procedures and policies are followed by management staff.
