The Lethbridge Police Service (LPS), through support of the Community Futures Treaty 7 and Canada Summer Job Grant, is currently accepting applications for non-permanent Administrative Support Summer Student position.

Reporting to the Human Resources Section, the Administrative Support Student will assist the unit and other areas within Lethbridge Police Service in providing administrative support.

Wage: TBD

Term: This is a non-permanent, summer student role, from May – August, 2024, with the possibility of an extension for casual work (0-37.5hrs)

Responsibilities:

• Input of data into a human resources information system
• Assisting in digital filing of staff related training records
• Assisting with events organized by Lethbridge Police Service
• Assess current Lethbridge Police Service partners and identify gaps of potential community engagement for the service
• Assist the human resources team in scheduling interviews, scanning applicant information into the human resources information system

Skills and Qualifications

• You enjoy working with others
• You are comfortable working with Microsoft office and basic administrative tasks
• You are comfortable engaging in conversation with internal and external stakeholders
• You demonstrate a positive attitude
• You are currently enrolled to continue in post-secondary institution to complete your studies

Student Eligibility under CFT7 Grant:

• Students must be enrolled in full-time studies, have Treaty Status from any First Nation in Canada, be unemployed, must NOT be receiving Employment Insurance benefits, and must attend the Student & Employer Symposium.

STEPS OF HIRING PROCESS

• Resumes will be reviewed for qualifications, education, experience, training and skills.

• Selected applicants will be contacted to complete a Personal Disclosure Form and Security Clearance Declaration (applicable to applicants outside of LPS).

• Completion of a Psychometric Assessment.

• Successful applicants will be contacted for a Behavioral Descriptive Interview.

• Security Clearance Check will be conducted (applicable to applicants outside LPS).

• Reference verification of a minimum of three professional references.

• A successful candidate(s) will be selected and offered the position.

• All components of the selection process will be administered, scored, evaluated and interpreted in a fair and uniform manner.

• Duration of the hiring process may take approximately two months.
