The Provincial Capital Commission (PCC) provides enhanced visitor experiences and educational programming in Wascana Centre and at the Government House to inspire pride in Saskatchewan’s Capital City. The Provincial Capital Commission is currently seeking to add two hard-working individuals to our team in the Forester 2 position. This position reports to our Forestry & Pest Control Supervisor and works in a team environment to prune and provide related maintenance to trees and shrubs for the urban forest under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Capital Commission, including Wascana Centre and the Government House. Due to the nature of the job, this position is seasonal and will work approximately from March - October.
As a Forester 2, you will:
- Perform tree pruning activities through the identification of trees and knowledge of what to prune from ground level or by aerial truck.
- Assist in the care and maintenance of the trees in Wascana Centre and Wascana Tree Nursery (watering, staking, pruning, fertilizing, etc.).
- Prepare sites for planting and landscaping.
- Operate various equipment used in forestry operations (e.g. chain saw, power pruner, truck with aerial lift attachment, tree spade, brush chipper, etc.).
- Perform basic maintenance on equipment.
- Oversee small work crews.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- One-year diploma/certificate in Forestry or Arboriculture; or ISA Certified Arborist (or eligible to become an ISA certified arborist within 6 months of hiring). Related education and experience may be considered.
- Minimum 3 years combined experience in forestry or arboriculture (urban pesticide application, arboriculture, forestry, dendrology, related education).
- Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Experience overseeing small work crews would be an asset.
