Job Description: The incumbent is accountable for the provision of direct clinical mental health and addictions services to children, youth, adults and their families. This position will perform generalized social work services as assigned. These services will include individual, group and family counseling, case management, and public education. The position is part of a multi-disciplinary team comprised of psychiatric nurses, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists and functions within the practice principles of the mental health and addiction services program management.
Experience
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Bachelor of Social Work/Bachelor of Indian Social Work from an accredited University that includes education aimed at theories of counseling and communication skills.
-Current or eligible for registration with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers
EXPERIENCE
-Minimum of one year experience in the area of mental health and addiction services.
-Experience with children, youth and families is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
-Sound knowledge of mental health and addictions theory, developmental theory, systems theory, and the ability to distinguish normal and abnormal adaptive, emotional, developmental,
personality and behavior functioning.
-Ability to integrate these theoretical concepts into practice by utilizing evidence-based models of therapeutic interventions appropriate to the treatment of mental health and family functioning. This includes clinical assessment and case management skills as well as treatment strategies (individual, group and family therapy) to be used with children, youth, adults and their families.
-Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
-Ability to work independently as required.
