About:
Our client, a global leading mining and civil engineering firm, is seeking an Environmental Manager for ongoing large-scale complex mining and permitting projects.
Responsibilities:
· Government Liaison: Coordinate and lead efforts to secure environmental approvals/permits for projects, collaborating with government and regulatory agencies across all jurisdictions.
· Take charge of environmental regulatory planning and Environmental Assessment/Impact Assessment (EA/IA) efforts, ensuring compliance with the province.
· Independently manage external subcontractors when needed, overseeing regulatory planning, EA/IA, and technical studies for projects, covering areas such as noise, air, natural and cultural heritage, visual, and land use.
· Establish effective communication with regulatory agencies and authorities to address project issues and secure agreement in principle.
· Direct development and implementation of consultation and engagement programs for municipal, federal, and provincial regulatory agencies, as well as Indigenous communities, ensuring strategic oversight for effective engagement.
· Collaborate with technical and professional staff company-wide to complete assignments, providing expertise in environmental planning and regulatory compliance.
· Delegate tasks to intermediate and junior staff, providing technical and supervisory guidance. Interact with clients in roles such as Project Manager, Environmental Lead, or Consultation Lead.
· Develop, maintain, and monitor project/task schedules and budgets for the environmental component of projects, utilizing project scheduling and cost control tools.
· Assist in developing proposals, qualification documents, and other business development activities. Contribute to expanding environmental market share in strategic markets.
· Leverage existing industry/client relationships while establishing and nurturing new client connections to foster growth within the environmental sector.
Qualifications:
· Education in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or Environmental Studies.
· Over 10 years of relevant experience in managing and coordinating Environmental programs, Environmental Assessment/Impact Assessment (EA/IA), and environmental regulatory planning.
Skills and Knowledge:
· Familiarity and demonstrated experience with provincial, federal, and territorial EA/IA processes in various jurisdictions. An in-depth understanding of the regulatory environment is an asset.
· Knowledge of other relevant environmental legislation and policy.
· Proven experience in facilitating environmental permitting and approvals in the USA and or Canada.
