Parks Labourer (Relief)

Job description

Do you have a general understanding of park and landscape maintenance techniques? Do you have strong time management, organizational and interpersonal skills? If so, we want you on our Parks Services Team!

As the successful candidate as Parks Labourer (Relief), you will be responsible for setting the level of service for the general public by assisting to provide a safe, clean park area for recreation and leisure enjoyment of the public. This position will have primary interaction with the public and requires a friendly, helpful demeanour coupled with an interest in working in a parks environment. You will:

  1. Conduct daily general park maintenance duties such as:
Assist with: Other related duties as assigned.

To be successful in this role, you must have completed grade 12 (or equivalent), have a valid BC Driver's Licence and a good understanding of park and landscape maintenance techniques. You must have sufficient physical strength and stamina to do manual outdoor work in all types of weather and be comfortable working by yourself at times. This position requires experience using small tools and equipment safely, understanding facility and infrastructure maintenance, cleaning, construction techniques, and safe operation of ATV's, lawn equipment and tractors. You must be organized, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be a team player.

There are two relief positions available that will provide support to the Parks department on an on-call as needed basis. One position will work out of our Central Zone and one position will work out of our West Zone with hours from 6:30am to 3:00pm. The position pays $26.35 per hour.
