Job description
Are you a self motivated individual with a desire to learn and adapt to a fast paced environment? Do you have a solid understanding of Civil design, Civil drawing layout, and standard drawing presentation?
The Civil Design Coordinator will join our preconstruction design group and will be responsible for the Civil design and coordination of all groundworks for multifamily developments including townhouses, apartments, hotels, and more.
Your contributions to the team: - Design and coordination of all Civil elements for large residential construction projects
- Review and value engineering of Civil Engineering drawings including grading and servicing plans
- Review and value engineering of geotechnical findings and reports
- Participate in defining site investigation program and determining the foundation and pile types
- Coordination of all groundworks including site services, electrical, water, etc.
- Design of site retaining walls using lock block, allan block, and cast-in-place concrete walls.
- Support the Utility Coordinator with utility applications and negotiations
- Review of Architectural drawings to confirm coordination with civil elements
- Review and coordinate all site plans including electrical, civil, architectural, utilities, etc.
- Participate in material takeoffs for estimating, budgeting, and procurement purposes.
- Coordinate external and internal stakeholders
- Design parkade and pedestrian ramps with support of others
- Attend internal and external project meetings to support the architectural coordinator.
- Assist in resolving construction conflicts by providing design and coordination assistance.
- Construction administration including shop drawings review, clarifying RFI’s, etc.
What you need to be successful:
- Minimum Diploma in Civil Engineering
- Degree in Civil Engineering is preferred
- AScT, EIT, or P.Eng with ASTTBC or APEG preferred
- 3-5 years experience in Civil design on construction projects (residential experience an asset)
- Experience on large concrete foundations including parkades and/or podiums
- Experience with variety of soil and site conditions including steep slopes and poor soil conditions
- Experience and knowledge of different pile types and an understanding of how they function
- Experience completing site grading design including designing site retaining walls
- Revit Software experience an asset
- Topographic analysis an asset
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a faced paced environment without sacrificing efficiency or quality.
- Ability to prioritize projects and work to meet conflicting deadlines
