Job Summary:

The Office of the Vice President, Students invites applications for the position of Associate Vice President (AVP). The AVP, alongside the Vice President Students, strategically leads the division with a particular focus on quality assurance, assessment, and research.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a related field; PhD preferred
• Evidence of ongoing professional development relevant to the position, to include current professional development in Indigenization and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
• A minimum of 8 years of senior management experience focused on student experience and success
• Excellent written, presentation, and oral communication skills, delivered in a manner appropriate to the audience
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including teambuilding and developing collaborative relationships
• Experience in generating and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, developing assessment tools, and evaluating diverse programs and services
• Proven ability to synthesize detailed, complex information into clear and compelling recommendations and briefings
• Demonstrated ability to model appropriate professional, ethical, and collaborative behaviours that engender collaboration, trust, and respect consistent with the responsibilities of this position
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement goals, objective, policies, procedures, work standards, and internal controls for departments and programs
• Demonstrated ability to engage in critical thought and data analysis so as to inform strategic planning, goal setting, and program evaluation, and assessment
• Demonstrated experience and expertise in all facets of student conduct issues
• Experience in policy development and revision, demonstrating a commitment to consultation and engagement, evidence-based decision making, and student-ready principles
• Experience preparing and administering large and complex budgets; allocating limited resources in a cost-effective manner; and overseeing the expenditure and reporting of funds related to program requirements, external requirements, and institutional fiscal policies
• Demonstrated knowledge of diverse post-secondary students, including subpopulations within, and their academic success and support needs
• Strong understanding of the professional standards for providing service and support to all students
• Evidence of a professional commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, Indigenization, and the principles of a student-ready university
