Summer Camp Counsellor
Playgrounds is the sole parkour gym in the region, dedicated to the sports of parkour/freerunning. As part of our programs, we offer Summer camps that include parkour instruction, as well as many other camp games and activities.
We are currently seeking part-time staff with primarily daytime availability July & August. However, if interested, additional hours may be available in helping to run birthday parties on evenings and weekends. In addition to general training which can be completed online, there will be a mandatory training workshop near the end of June prior to the start of camps.
As a Summer Camp counsellor, you would not be required to instruct parkour or spot specific skills. This role would entail assisting coaches as needed with equipment setup & guiding kids through their stations, behavioural management of participants, facilitating games and activities, completing some cleaning duties, immediately reporting any injuries or incidents to a senior coach, and overall helping to make sure the kids have a good (and safe!) time.
Skills:
Patient, engaging & kind manner with children. Group management, problem solving mindset, communication skills, and working in a fast-paced team environment. Ability to assist children regulate emotions and reactions with others, and diffuse conflicts or potential bullying situations.
Experience:
Must have experience working with kids. Applicants 18+ must complete a vulnerable sector check. First Aid CPR-C is required. Experience in parkour and/or gymnastics is an asset, but not required. Experience working with neurodivergent children and/or ECE training is an asset.
