DESCRIPTION The Quality Inspector is responsible for implementing and executing Michels coating quality systems to meet and reach field expectations. The Quality Inspector will support the execution of complex tasks in a fast-paced work environment while maintaining a collaborative and supportive environment for team members. This position will be based in Coquitlam, BC.
RESPONSIBILITIES - Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Stop work in the area of an identified health or safety problem until resolved.
- Observes work in progress to assure conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship.
- Development, execution and continual improvement of lining and coating systems. Working close with the lining and coating crew to ensure it’s effectiveness is achieved.
- Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes.
- Verify that QA and QC documents meet the requirements of contract specifications and provisions. Investigate problems identified by the contractor and consultant staff and make contract revisions as required.
- The ability to identify and respond to NCR’s through corrective action while implementing lessons learned.

- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS - NACE CIP Level 3 a must
- 7-10 years’ experience in heavy civil and pipeline projects specifically around lining and coatings with previous experience as an applicator is an asset.
- Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven, and an acceptable driving record as determined by Michels Review Team.
- Valid Fall Protection
- Valid Confined Space Entry/Rescue
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and listen. In the field, the employee will be required to walk, climb ladders, enter pipe and inspect
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS - Heavily experienced individual with a vast experience of linings and coatings.
- Knowledge of corrosion and its causes and ways to prevent it.
LANGUAGES - Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
