Regional Sales Manager - Ontario
Our client, a leading international design and manufacturer of sensors and controls for industrial automation is actively looking for a Regional Sales Manager to join their growing team in Mississauga.
Role and Responsibilities:
- The Regional Sales Manager leads a team of sales engineers within a sales region by coaching and mentoring them on how to approach and manage customers, situations and work colleagues alike.
- This position is responsible for hiring, training and developing sales engineers to work with large potential machine builders, system integrators and manufacturing plants in the regional market.
- This position requires a leader to leverage personal sales credibility to coach the team in all phases of the sales process.
- Success in this role is measured by the retention of high performing sales engineers within the sales organization, new business growth and overall sales growth at a level that supports regional growth targets.
- Lead with effective communication and engagement. Ensure the team understands the “why” behind decisions and expectations. Communicate with the team as a group and individually on a regular basis to ensure clarity with organizational goals and their role in the sales team.
- Lead with a collaborative approach to team selling. Encourage the team to ask for help and lead by example to accelerate sales growth through team selling.
- Identify individual development goals with sales engineers and monitor performance to identify coaching opportunities.
- Develop new strategic accounts while motivating Sales Team to reach the sales targets.
- Participate on joint sales calls (digital and in-person) to stimulate customer growth and mentor Sales Engineers
- Assign sales territories and list accounts for district branch
- Assist sales engineers with meetings at the C-level to understand customers’ business model and opportunities to become trusted partners to improve their business with company technology.
- Lead topics across the sales leadership team as a Subject Matter Expert when possible.
- Support the National Sales Manager with initiatives and projects within the sales region.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related discipline
- 5+ years of proven sales success working directly with customers in the industrial automation market.
- Experience working with remote sales and leadership teams.
- 3+ years experience of verifiable, proven coaching success as a Sales Manager growing direct report sales success and career development
- Success winning large projects at manufacturing plants and industrial machine builders
- Excellent communication, organizational coaching and presentation skills.
- Knowledge and proficiency with technology to credibly engage with all levels of an organization from engineers to the Engineering Director or CEO
- Willingness and ability to travel 20% of time within region and nationally at times
