Job description

Do you have experience in the garment or textile industry? Do you have an eye for detail? Are you looking for a permanent job as a fabric spreader? Do you live in or around the Dorval area?

Our client in the fashion industry is looking for a fabric spreader for their Dorval location. As a fabric spreader, you will be taking rolls of fabric and spreading them on a table. Using a knife or laser cutter, the fabric spreader cuts the fabric according to the pattern, and then adds it to a bag to go out for sewing. Fabric spreaders work Monday to Friday 43 hours a week, day shifts, and are paid $19 to $22 an hour depending on experience.

Responsibilities
Take roll of fabric from shelf

Spread the fabric on the table and trace area to be cut out by using design
Cut the fabric to the specified dimensions using a fabric cutter or the laser machine
Put cut fabric in a bag to be sent to sewers for finishing
Keep work area neat and tidy

Qualifications
Previous experience working in textile industry
Comfortable standing all day
Comfortable lifting the occasional 40lbs roll of fabric
Must be able to distinguish different colours
Attention to detail
Must be able to use a ruler and measure
