Responsibilities
- Oversee large projects including an upcoming implementation.
- Ability to accommodate and manage additional payroll coming from mergers and acquisitions
- Maintain compliance with payroll legislation. Manage payroll and tax-related problems and inquiries.
- Manage day-to-day activities, including managing payroll staff.
- As lead technical liaison collaborate with relevant departments including, HR, IT and Finance
- improve efficiency and reduce costs, including testing new syste.ms and procedures when requested.
- Look to improve process, create meaningful projects and implement additional software tools.
- Configure payroll reports utilizing tools; create, modify, and utilize spreadsheets additionally to administer various payroll transactions; conduct payroll analysis as required.
- Prepare and maintain Payroll process documentation to support training needs and support continuous improvement. Establish and maintain process metrics/reporting
- Monitor compliance with accounting policies and internal accounting controls.
- Reconcile and sign off on Payroll Liability G/L accounts monthly and make required adjustments
- Prepare payroll taxable benefits on a quarterly basis for gifts to staff, fitness, professional dues.
- Prepare and submit all annual returns in a timely manner.
- Work with government agencies when necessary to ensure full compliance overseeing audits where required.
Requirements
- 10 years payroll experience in large organization with at least 5 years managerial experience.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certificate required; CPM Certificate preferred.
- Experience in accounting/reconciliations of payroll liabilities accounts and knowledge of Payroll GL.
- Advanced expertise in Excel
- Complex payroll knowledge i.e. Global reporting of salaries
- Deal with Government agencies CRA, Service Canada.
