Nova Scotia is rich in natural resources – including biodiversity, forests, provincial parks, minerals, energy and the land we manage. The Department of Natural Resources and Renewables is responsible for the development, management, conservation and protection of forest, parks and wildlife resources and the administration of the province's Crown land. The department also studies, manages, and promotes mineral and other geological resources to achieve optimum economic, social, and environmental value from the sector. Together we are working with Nova Scotians to build a better future through sustainable natural resource management as we all benefit from the natural health and wealth of the province.

As the Librarian you will be responsible for the management, control, and delivery of a wide range of information services to clients in a variety of media formats; oversee the daily operations of the Natural Sciences Library (Library) by selecting, collecting, organizing, preserving, and providing access to the Library collections.

This may be the right opportunity for you if you have a Bachelor’s degree along with a post-graduate degree in Library Science and 2 years of professional library experience.
As the ideal candidate you have previous experience conducting research and analysis on library best practices on library resources and media, information access tools and technologies, operational effectiveness/efficiency. You also have previous experience overseeing the daily operation of a library, responsible for the management, control, and delivery of a wide range of information services to clients.
You bring an analytical and innovative approach to your work to maintain efficient management of the Library collection, within the budget and physical space allotment. You have strong time management skills to balance shifting priorities for reference and research work with other operational requirements.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Salary Range: $2,446.01 - $2,967.83 Bi-Weekly
