POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pharmacy Assistant/Reimbursement Specialist is responsible for preparing medication orders, processing prescriptions using pharmacy software, and completing other technical tasks in an accurate and timely manner. This specialty pharmacy is closed to the public; medications are sent directly to medical clinics. We are looking
for a candidate who is reliable, organized, and has excellent communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with Kroll PMS and troubleshooting adjudication issues with public/private insurers. Experience is an asset but is not required.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Accurate data entry of prescriptions into Kroll and filling/billing such prescriptions
- Answering incoming calls and field general inquiries from patients with professionalism and tactfulness (refer to a pharmacist when necessary for counselling and clinical questions)
- Preparing orders for deliveries using cold chain management for refrigerated and frozen medications
- Packing shipments, completing shipping documentation
- Coordination of deliveries and prescriptions with PPNs
- Maintenance of pharmacy stock through inventory management system (product return credits expired/damaged product disposal, organizing inventory/packaging supplies)
- Confirm and investigate insurance coverage and benefits for patients, including eligibility, co-payments, and deductibles
- Contact patient assistance programs to determine coverage options for patients
- Complete manual claims and reversal forms
- Management of transactions with patients (e-transfers, refunds)
- Maintain confidentiality of patient healthcare information at all times
- Other administrative tasks to support the pharmacy/clinic workflow as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with Kroll Pharmacy Management Software (preferred)
- Excellent Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and G Suite
- Excellent customer service skills
- High level of professionalism
- Strong written, verbal, and computer skills are required
- Self-motivated with strong work ethic
- Deadline-oriented and strong prioritization skills a must
- Experience with Kroll or in a pharmacy setting (asset)
EDUCATION:
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Completion of post-secondary education an asset
