SUMMARY: The position of CNC High Speed Mill Operator will accurately set up and operate a high precision, multi-axis mill machining center to fabricate metallic components based on drawing specifications, and tight finishing tolerances. This position reports to the Manufacturing Manager, Finishing Department.
Shift times: Friday to Sunday 3:30 pm to 4:00 am

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide maintenance support to plant facility with CNC machines, robotics and PLC’s
- Work to tight deadlines where machines are down as well as supporting preventative maintenance programs in a high tolerance environment.
- Troubleshoot problems and work with machine suppliers and technicians to ensure production is maintained.
- Member of the Maintenance Team and provide support and department coverage to other team members.
- Participate in Pre-Start Health and Safety Programs and work with external suppliers to ensure compliance.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Setting up and operate a CNC Precision Mill
- Interprets drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and sequence of specific machining operations
- Load and edit control media to optimize and/or correct machine performance
- Calculates and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control elements.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunction and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
- Through the use of precision measurement tools to verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications with tolerances as low as +/- .001 to +/- .0002.
- Conduct routine maintenance on equipment
- The proper maintenance of the machine and housekeeping of their work area.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
TECHNICAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- College Diploma or Certified Apprenticeship program in General Machining, Tool & Die or Mould Maker preferred or Mechanical Technician Diploma
- Minimum 5+ years of recent experience operating a High Speed Finishing Mill to extremely tight tolerances
- Proven knowledge interpreting engineering drawings and use of hand measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, etc)
- Ability to work in a high precision, fast paced environment.
