1‑Full Time‑Registered Practical Nurse
Maternal Newborn
This position will involve working the Day, Evening, Weekend & Extended shifts. The shift is not to be interpreted as
a guarantee.
Reporting to the Manager of Labour & Delivery and Maternal Newborn, you will be responsible for providing quality
nursing care to a patient population with predictable outcomes. As part of a multidisciplinary health care team, you
will practice within the Professional Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario, the Philosophy of patient and
family centered care, mission vision, values and the policies of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Applicants must have the following qualifications:
* Current unrestricted registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, or the ability to
become licensed with the College of Nurses of Ontario
* Current certification in BCLS
* Recent experience in Maternity and Perinatal Nursing with experience in breastfeeding support and the care of
complex patient populations, including postoperative surgical patients
* Ability to use the Nursing Process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in conjunction with her/his
basic and ongoing knowledge to arrive at individualized care planning and delivery
* Collaborates with Registered Nurse's when patients assigned to the Registered Practical Nurse become unstable
or have outcomes that are not as expected
* Identify and recognize abnormal or unexpected patient responses and take appropriate action
* Ability to simultaneously manage multiple nursing interventions
* Strong interprofessional and communication skills
In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:
* Have certification or recent continuing education in Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP), lactation support, perinatal or
high risk perinatal nursing
Salary Range: $35.041 to 35.970
