ABOUT US:
As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Draftsperson for this position is responsible for the following:
- Prepare pipeline design drawings, quantity calculations, as-built drawings, 3D grade models and pipeline polylines for use in GPS and Machine Control applications.
- Prepare pipeline engineering and pipeline survey plans.
- Maintain accurate survey records, documentation, and submittals.
- Provide pipeline layout information and stake out files at various stages of pipeline construction.
- Provide pipeline calculations to field staff.
- Calculate grade cut/fill volumes using various software and methods.
- Maintain survey equipment inventory.
- Maintain as-built records.
- Provides back-up support for other Surveying staff.
- Assisting in field surveys using total station or GPS. Previous survey experience is required.
- Provide clear communication with client in a professional manner.
- Liaises with contractors and field staff.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
- Proficient in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Total Station and GPS platforms.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ANALYSIS:
- Ability to work 6 days on 1 day off schedule.
- Remote work locations.
- Temporary relocation as required.
- Ability to work long/extended work hours as required.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:
- Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology from NAIT (or another accredited post-secondary institution) OR Post-secondary education in Geomatics or design field, Civil Engineering or Architectural program.
- Knowledge and experience with survey practices and standards.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Drafting/Engineering Design role.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Maps 3D, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Global Mapper experience.
- Knowledge and experience in Pipeline/Heavy Civil construction and methodology.
- Knowledge of GIS software.
- Ability to interpret field data and rough sketches in a fast pace setting.
- Exceptional attention to detail, specifically pertaining to completeness and accuracy of drawings.
- Strong computer skills and proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, Excel).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Proven organizational skills to handle multiple deadlines and tasks within a high-pressure work environment.
- Self-motivated, ability to learn new skills, assume new responsibilities and work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Excellent safety and attendance record and previously demonstrated strong safety awareness.
