Job description

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Checks each load of steel as it arrives against Bill of Lading, stamps and signs Bill of Lading
• Directs trucks to proper unloading area
• Unloads and loads material from and to trucks and trailers
• Locates and assembles material from warehouse storage to fill requirements of sales orders
• Notifies management when orders cannot be filled from stock.
• Clears the stands (ie. moves material from the Side Loader Operators)
• Operates tow motor to move material throughout the plant as required
• Updates location of materials
• Assists with various other duties as directed by Plant Supervisor
• Helps to maintain safety and good housekeeping in work areas
• Writes up and completes various forms and reports.
• Places protective materials as needed to ensure travel and handling shipments without damage.
• Notes and reports defects in material, tools to management.
• Tow motor, remote overhead crane, banding equipment, bar codingscanner

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Steel processing experience is an asset.
• High School Diploma.
• Forklift certification and at least 1 year of experience operating a forklift.
• Previous experience in an industrial environment.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and safety.
