Job description
DYMACO is an engineering and consulting company located in Thunder Bay, Ontario that provides services in the Mining, Heavy Industrial, Power Generation, Commercial and Institutional fields both in Canada and abroad. DYMACO has a dynamic team to ensure the firm’s ability to handle major multi-disciplinary projects and has extensive experience in project planning, pre-feasibility/feasibility, design, procurement, and construction management. We are looking to add to our growing team, a detail-orientated individual who works well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Engineers, this position will primarily be responsible for the preparation of electrical designs and drawings using AutoCAD/Revit, ensuring that design drawings conform to specifications provided, and coordinating with drawings prepared by other engineering disciplines. The successful candidate will also provide support to Engineers throughout all phases of a project including design, tender and construction.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and prepare electrical designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches and specifications.
- Create and work within 3-dimensional BIM models in Revit.
- Utilize BIM to analyze potential design solutions.
- Read and interpret existing engineering drawings.
- Check and verify design drawings for conformance with specifications and design data.
- Coordinate with Architectural, Structural, Civil and Mechanical design drawings.
- Contribute to the preparation of contracts and tender documents.
- Be accountable to Project Engineers for drawing production and quality.
- Perform site visits to gather information necessary to facilitate design work.
- Assist with construction phase services as needed, including, performing site reviews, creation of construction sketches and shop drawing review.
- Ability and willingness to travel when required.
- Ensure clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Maintain current knowledge of National/Provincial building codes and electrical codes.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum post-secondary diploma in electrical engineering technology or equivalent.
- Registered Technician (C.Tech.) or Technologist (C.E.T.) with OACETT is an asset.
- Relevant work experience in the electrical engineering field is an asset.
- Experience working with AutoCAD and Revit/BIM modeling.
- Ability to create detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
- Construction experience is an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Committed to continual improvement and learning.
- Class G Driver’s License
- Fluency in English (spoken and written)
