Headquartered in Stoney Creek, the plants have design, mold, paint, assembly and testing capabilities. Tiercon manages 5 sites across 2 cities employing approximately 550 people throughout Canada. Tiercon is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry as a Facilities Engineer at our 591 Arvin facility .

Job Summary & Reporting Structure:

Reporting to the Paint Manager, the Facilities Engineer is responsible for Air handling systems, water wash and humidification controls. They will be directly responsible for the effective operation of the process equipment supporting the painting application. Additionally they will need to manage refurbishment contracts and contractors in the replacement of the Paint facility booths, ovens, and related structure. As well they are responsible for the Environment systems compliance and reporting. At all times, they will maintain the policies and procedures outlined in ISO9001:2015 AND IATF 16949 Quality System and ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in the Paint Continuous Improvement Team to focus the company wide efforts to improve production measurables (i.e.: first-time yield rates and profitability).
• To ensure the proper functioning of the complete Painting environment - Spray booths, Ovens, Air Supplies, Abatement, and Sludge elimination and management.
• Monitor process parameters such as Temperature, humidity, booth air flow balance to ensure optimal performance.
• Chemical management of the Power wash, RO plant, and sludge process, for optimal sludge removal, and ph balance of water.
• Capital investment for the purposes of refurbishing the "Gray Box" (paint facility). Including RFQ preparation, quote review, and recommendations to Senior Management for expenditures.
• Ensure new processing technologies are investigated, evaluated and communicated.
• Analyze and assess processes, process conditions, design and implement experiments, troubleshoot processes; recommend and implement solutions and improvements.
• Develop tracking records to monitor effectiveness of on-going programs.
• In conjunction with the Paint team, participate in identifying and analyzing non-conformances, paint application/production/quality problems, and developing, implementing and verifying corrective action.
• Implement, maintain SPC on selected / identified processes.
• Manage outside supplier services and products as directed to improve effectiveness and reduce overall production costs
• Practice and promote continuous improvement in all areas of work.
• Perform duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:

Education Required: University degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Chemical, or equivalent

Training Required: Project Management, SPC, Design of Experiments, Lean Manufacturing, 5S

Skills Required: Root Cause Analysis, Complex Mathematics, Strong Computer Skills: Spread Sheets, Databases, Programming, Drafting, Leadership, Decision Making, Time management and prioritization

Equivalent Experience: Minimum 10 years' experience in manufacturing environment with minimum 5 years in a Technical role; strong exposure to Paint Processes, Air handling systems, and water chemistry management are an asset as well as a College Technician diploma, Automation Controls PLC
