Coulson Aviation is a global aerial firefighting company that operates in Canada, the USA, Australia, and South America.
Coulson Aviation operates with a fleet of large aerial firefighting aircraft consisting of both fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft. With our fleet, we can run rapid aerial fire suppression, including initial attack and extended attack protocols.
Coulson Aviation is a part of the Coulson Group of companies. We are a growing organization that has been in business for 63 years.
Due to our company growth and expanding footprint, we are looking to add to our team and hire a Logistics Supervisor .
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
Due to growth within our organization, we are looking to hire a Logistics Supervisor. This position reports to the Supply Chain Manager and is responsible for working with each business unit to assess, analyze and ensure that all freight movements are supported through consistent strategy reviews aiming to streamline our process and reduce costs. Doing so requires independent decision making, non-standard problem solving and trouble shooting.
This position is located in Port Alberni, BC.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with the Supply Chain Manager and SCM leadership team to ensure the Coulson Fleet and project requirements are supported through consistent management of all logistical requirements:
- Act as the first contact for the Coulson Management team to ensure products leave as planned and communicate any challenges with the leadership team.
- Develop a long-term strategy for managing growth of the logistics department, including development of personnel: conducting performance reviews, training & development, safety accreditation, recruitment, disciplinary coaching, and effective management of employee relations.
- Develop and execute a long-term strategy for continuous improvement of the logistics department processes, in addition to staff growth and development to support organizational growth.
- Ensuring that all department stakeholders are provided with logistic support updates for all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities across the business units.
- Manage and delegate tasks to prioritize and ensure products are shipped in same day where possible or as scheduled.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment for the team.
Working with the Supply Chain Manager to cultivate effective working relationships and agreements with freight forwarders by:
- Having a working knowledge of all Coulson authorized forwarders and an understanding of their core competencies and any specialized freight movement capabilities.
- Work with the Supply Chain Manager to manage forwarder performance through KPI’s and reporting tools.
- Optimizing choices for freight movement in terms of price and timing of delivery including AOG (Aircraft on Ground) requirements.
- Review, manage and follow up on all overdue shipments and expedite as required.
- Acting as a liaison between freight forwarders and department stakeholders to cultivate industry contacts and sharable knowledge within the business units.
Maintain a solid understanding of required systems, procedures, and requirements of domestic and international movements with a high degree of accuracy including:
- Ensure compliance to all “Domestic & International” shipping requirements and alignment of internal procedures within the company process.
- Completing the appropriate documentation and updating all systems for visibility.
- Communicating and collaborating effectively with all cross functional departments.
- Ensure compliance of updating all waybill information within the company ERP where applicable.
- Managing shipment status reports (AWB tracking tools) to ensure all parts are delivered within the required delivery dates for project and line maintenance activities.
- Familiarity with the Supply Chain Procedure Manual (SCPM) and adhering to those policies and procedures.
Overall success in this role will be achieved through:
- The expertise and effectiveness of our people in Supply Chain Management (SCM) by incorporating SCM strategies and best practices in conjunction with market intelligence, effective forwarder alliances and continuous improvement initiatives.
- The development of strong relationships with team members and cross-functional groups.
- The development of strategies to achieve established Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) that are consistent with corporate objectives; and
- The on-going development of Fleet and Project support for future growth opportunities to ensure both functionality and effectiveness for the business.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years experience as an international logistics professional with a proven ability to competently perform all job functions.
- 3 years experience in the movement of large-scale projects internationally. (ie: Aircraft, container, and oversized shipment organization)
- Posses working knowledge of aviation parts, materials, and comprehension of the different product types (ie: rotable components, avionics equipment and other fragile consumables)
- Working knowledge of aircraft products supported by Coulson Aviation.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of logistical industry standards & processes for aviation components.
- Demonstrated use of integrated business ERP and Management systems.
- Proactive problem solving and advanced trouble shooting skills.
- Demonstrated interpersonal communication skills at all levels.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills in MS Office and PowerBI an asset.
- Proven verbal and written communication skills. Strong customer service orientation with demonstrated active listening skills.
- Planning, organizing, multitasking skills and attention to detail are required.
- Able to work productively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
- Work independently as well as in a team environment.
