Unit Summary

Finance and Integrated Health Services includes the following departments: Decision Support, Finance, Privacy, Health Records, Patient Registration, and the Information Desk. Each department facilitates the creation of a knowledge rich environment for making timely and informed tactical and strategic decisions and maximizing both the value of care and services provided. They provide accurate, timely, and useful information for making decisions based on evidence to help deliver appropriate patient care. As subject matter experts, staff also provides expertise in analyzing and interpreting data and presenting and educating the corporation on this information.

The incumbent will be responsible for interviewing and registering patients using Meditech software following the HHS Registration Manual & Industry Standards to initiate and maintain an accurate data base that is used by many departments hospital wide to assist in the provision of quality care for all. Will be responsible for Bed Booking as per position requirements; maintaining the Central Bed Registry, implementing the Bed Management Guidelines; facilitating patient placement for ER, regional partners and nursing units. Completes and maintains accurate statistical collection for external partners that provides a regional bed picture and facilitates funding. Will assist with way finding and general inquires from our patients/customers. The incumbent will have demonstrated customer service attributes, such as active listening, empathy and courtesy, and a team player.

  1. Grade 12 or equivalent. 2. Medical terminology certificate is required. 3. A Medical Administration diploma from a recognized college is preferred. 4. Keyboard proficiency (40-45 wpm) and accurate computer data entry skills. 5. Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. 6. Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills. 7. Must be able to prioritize workload and function independently in a busy environment. 8. Demonstrate problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills. 9. Demonstrate ability to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team. 10. Able to demonstrated excellent customer service and service recovery skills. 11. Able to diplomatically respond to inquires from staff, patients, family members and physicians. 12. Ability to respond to change management.
