About The Role

ABOUT ROCKET LAB

Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems. The rockets and satellites we build and launch enable some of the most ambitious and vital space missions globally, supporting scientific exploration, Earth observation and missions to combat climate change, national security, and exciting new technology demonstrations. Our Electron rocket has provided reliable access to orbit since 2018, becoming one of the most frequently launched rockets in the world. Neutron will be our next rocket on the launch pad, an advanced 13-tonne payload class, reusable rocket to launch the mega constellations of the future. Our space systems business includes our extensive line of satellites and components that have enabled more than 1,700 missions including the James Webb Space Telescope, NASA Psyche Mission, Artemis I, Mars Ingenuity helicopter, and more.

Join our pioneering team and launch your career to new heights!

As a global company, each Rocket Lab site has its own unique internship offerings, but each position is designed to provide students with real-world experience and an opportunity to impact real programs within the space industry. Internships are available in the following North American locations: (US Locations) Long Beach, California (Headquarters); Littleton, Colorado; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Stennis, Mississippi; Silver Spring, Maryland; Wallops Island, Virginia; (Canada Location) Toronto, Ontario, Canada

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS

Ideal candidates will thrive in ambiguity and are excited to work in small, high-performing teams that are focused on continued learning and growth. COMPENSATION AND OTHER BENEFITS

ROCKET LAB ENGINEERING TEAMS

SPACE SYSTEMS:The Space Systems Division is shaping Rocket Lab’s future with Photon, our brand of high-performance satellites, enabling innovative missions in low Earth orbit and beyond including missions for NASA to LEO, the Moon, and Mars and commercial customers including leading the design and manufacture of 17 high power telecommunication spacecraft buses for Globalstar. (US Locations) Long Beach, California (Headquarters); Littleton, Colorado; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Silver Spring, Maryland; (Canada Location) Toronto, Ontario, Canada

AVIONICS: You will be on the front-line of cutting-edge avionics hardware development. You will have the unique opportunity to support the creation, test, and deployment of avionics hardware and systems that go into orbit. This includes but is not limited to flight computers, power electronic systems, high-voltage components, FPGAs, RF systems, and components used in guidance, navigation, and control. Our fundamental goal is to ensure our payloads reach orbit on time, every time.

GROUND SYSTEMS: This team is responsible for leading the design, build, testing, and commissioning of the mechanical launch pad and local test sites for Neutron, including fluid systems, supporting structures, and mechanisms.

MISSION MANAGEMENT: This team is responsible for carrying out mission assurance activities under the Launch Business Unit. Mission management supports the Global Launch Services organization as we build out a Mission Assurance Strategy to support future launches.

NEUTRON: Neutron is a medium-lift launch vehicle capable of delivering the mega-constellations of tomorrow, high assurance payloads, and human spaceflight. As a highly reusable launch platform, Neutron will deliver a highly cost-effective and reliable launch solution leveraging Rocket Lab’s proven execution history with the Electron program.

PROPULSION: The team consists of development engineers with a range of experience levels and skill sets. Generally, each engineer is expected to be capable of owning a component or system through its development lifecycle and production implementation. This means that the skill set of the team spans systems engineering, design, build, and test, though individuals may have their specializations. The team works hands-on, often alongside technicians, with development, qualification, and flight hardware. Team members interface regularly with stakeholders across the company, including GNC, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Flight Software, Analysis, and others.

QUALITY: This team is responsible for the development and implementation of business systems, processes, and tools to ensure quality is built into every aspect of our products and embedded throughout the entire value stream in compliance with AS9100.

WHAT TO EXPECT

We’re on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that’s not an easy task. It takes hard work, determination, relentless innovation, teamwork, grit, and an unwavering commitment to achieving what others often deem impossible. Our people out-think, out-work and out-pace. We pride ourselves on having each other’s backs, checking our egos at the door, and rolling up our sleeves on all tasks big and small. We thrive under pressure, work to tight deadlines, and our focus is always on how we can deliver, rather than dwelling on the challenges that stand in the way.
