We are looking for a Technical Officer to support the Powder Forming team of our Automotive and Surface Transportation Research Centre. The candidate would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The candidate will have to carry out research and development activities in the field of materials and fabrication processes using technologies associated with powder metallurgy processes.

The work will involve the development of powder mixtures and components produced by powder metal forming processes (compaction, injection molding, sintering, 3D printing). The candidate will also be involved in the characterization of powders (ex.: microscopy, granulometry…) and components (ex.; mechanical tesying, magnetic properties…) produced with powders and intended for various applications (mechanical parts, electric motors, energy, etc.).

He/she will receive and inquire data through trials and experiences, and make the initial analysis as directed by the supervisor and/or project manager. The candidate will be involved in the operation of equipment as per the guidelines or procedures. He/she will make sure of the operational reliability, adjustment and repair of some equipment and instruments according to the manual of operation and user guides. The Technical Officer will regularly discuss the progress of the project and report any problems to supervisor and/or project manager while maintaining a good knowledge of standard procedures in the field of expertise. He/she will help the project manager and/or supervisor to determine appropriate actions.

The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment in collaboration with researchers and technical officer of the Powder Forming team, colleagues of other groups, research centers and industrial partners.

Education

A College Degree in mechanical or metallurgy engineering, or similar domain.

Experience

Note : COOP and academic laboratory internship experience may be taken into consideration.

Compensation

Rates under review

From $49,298 to $69,364 per annum.
