As the Team Leader of the State Opioid Response (SOR) program, youll lead a team of Peer Recovery Specialists that are helping to support individuals that are impacted by Substance Use Disorder (SUD). You will be responsible for training the Peer Recovery Specialists to provide street outreach, harm reduction, coaching, mentoring, systems navigations and other outcome-oriented supports, as well as maintaining collaborative partnerships and positive relationships. this job offer is primarily covering Ulster and Dutchess Counties and requires medical onboarding to a medical facility. You are required to have a LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) with two years of Recovery Coaching practice. As well as a valid unrestricted drivers license. Travel is required.



Independent Living, Inc., is a progressive and dynamic cross-discapability services organization and a leader in the provision of peer services in the Hudson Valley region. The Team Leader (SUD) LMSW position requires a LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) with two years of Recovery Coaching practice. As well as a valid unrestricted drivers license. Minimum of one year of management/managery practice, preferred. Must have lived practice with substance use recovery either personally or through a family member or friend who has gone through recovery and be comfortable with self-disclosure as needed. Must undergo hospital onboarding to include but not be limited to the COVID vaccine,

tasks AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

»Ensures individuals in the community have access to Recovery Support Services.

»Supervises a team of Recovery Peer Specialists while engaging with Community Partners.

» supervises programmatic aspects of Independent Livings State Opioid Response (SOR) program in the Mid-Hudson Valley Region. This includes leadership abilities; monitoring continuing progress; preparing reports in Foothold/Awards our Electronic Health care record system.

»Works with and trains Recovery Peer Specialists to provide street outreach, harm reduction, coaching, mentoring, systems navigations and other outcome-oriented supports targeted to individuals impacted by Substance Use Disorder (SUD).

»Train Recovery Peer Specialists on documenting in, and the proper use of Foothold/Awards.

»Network with other agency providers and community support services to maintain an integrated support system for persons with SUD.

»Maintain collaborative partnerships and positive relationships.

»Help individuals as well as support the Peer Specialists with creating individual recovery service plans located on recovery goals. Steps to accomplish this includes:

»Using recovery-oriented tools to help individuals address challenges.

»Assisting individuals to build their own self-directed wellness plans.

»Assisting individuals with accessing benefits, entitlements, legal assistance, civic restoration, transportation support, health management, reliable housing, and education and employment connections.

»Supporting individuals in their decision-making.

»Advocating with individuals for what they need.

»Supporting individuals in crisis.

»Advocating for multiple pathways to recovery and engaging in (Medication Assisted Treatment) MAT program partnerships.

»Proactively engaging families and individuals on how to access and navigate the substance use treatment system and negotiate insurance barriers to treatment.

»Attend and actively participate in all meetings and training sessions provided by Independent Living, Inc. and specific to the job responsibilities of the position.

»Upon completing the required training, train community members and participants in Narcan.

»Participate in the interview process for new Recovery Peer Specialists.

»Assist with program coverage due to extended absences.

Qualifications required

»Certified Recovery Peer Advocate and/or New York Certified Peer Specialist Preferred.

»Minimum of one year of management/managery practice, preferred.

»Must have lived practice with substance use recovery either personally or through a family member or friend who has gone through recovery and be comfortable with self-disclosure as needed.

»Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), required.

»Two years of Recovery Coaching practice.

»Must complete approved advocacy training programs within the first six months of employment.

»Must have a working expertise of the recovery process and be willing to promote multi-pathways to recovery.

»Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.

» expertise of ASL a plus.

»Must have lived practice with substance use recovery either personally or through a family member/loved one who has gone through recovery and be comfortable with self-disclosure as needed.

»Empathy, honesty, respect for diversity, high personal standards, language and behaviors reflecting such values and the Independent Living philosophy.

»Excellent written and verbal presentation expertise.

»Must have good time management expertise and be self-directing, especially if there is any downtime.

»Must possess a valid unrestricted drivers license and have reliable transportation.
