Serving over 300,000 people in an area spanning 600,000 square kilometers, Northern Health is the publicly funded Regional Health Authority providing healthcare for the northern two-thirds of British Columbia. Inclusive of 55 First Nations, 10 Métis Nation chartered communities, and numerous municipal governments, Regional Districts, and Regional Hospital Districts, Northern Heath’s region is tremendously diverse culturally, geographically, and economically, and offers something for everyone. The Authority operates 18 hospitals, 9 health centres, 25 long-term care facilities for seniors, and community and public health services including addictions and mental health treatment facilities and Primary.  It employs over 9,000 people and is recognised as a leader and innovator in relation to rural and remote healthcare.

This is an opportunity to take on a newly-created role and make a significant difference to the health of the people and communities in the large, diverse and beautiful northern region of BC. Working with this award winning organization, the VP, Clinical Operations is a member of Northern Health’s executive team and will work across the organization to effectively and efficiently deliver services designed to meet local and regional needs within Northern Health’s policies and priorities. In particular, they will work with colleagues and allied organizations to support the ongoing development of specialized services and will build specialized service programming. In partnership with the Vice President, Professional Practice, this VP will look at innovative approaches to service models, mitigating service disruption by identifying partners, resources and different practices to meet patient needs. In addition, the VP, Clinical Operations will work with the Executive Director of Digital Health to continue to digitize health services and help the organization leverage technology while continuing to keep the patient at the centre. Above all else, the VP, Clinical Operations will lead and engage a large and dedicated team with compassion, instilling and inspiring a culture of innovation, service and collegiality.

As the ideal candidate, you have led large systems transformation across a complex health care entity, ideally with a component of rural and remote service needs. You can demonstrate a track record of providing progressive and innovative approaches to service delivery issues, and you are able to work with a wide range of clinical leaders to integrate new service models. You are known as someone who leads with compassion and inspires your team to push for excellence by engaging, connecting, empathizing, and being present and accessible. At the executive level, you participate in a productive, collegial and supportive way, contributing to decision making for the greater good of an organization. Your experience in clinical practice and senior operations leadership is ideally augmented by a Masters Degree in a related discipline.

The salary range for this position is $220,845 – $289,859 annually, and the hiring salary will take into account the candidate’s background and experience. The salary is supplemented by a competitive total rewards package.
