Security Specialist

Temporary Full Time
Temporary employment anticipated to extend until September 20, 2024, subject to the availability of work.
Our Security Specialists deliver supervisory leadership, guiding a team of over 70 staff on 3 major sites, 5 buildings in London and St. Thomas. The 70 plus staff are a mixture of guards and security control centre/switchboard operators. They supervise and schedule employees, assist in performance development, provide coaching for compliance, assist in development of processes to achieve operational goals, assist in development of education to ensure staff are engaged and working in consultation with our clinical partners to facilitate a safe and secure work environment. Reporting to the Coordinator and Director the Specialists ensure there are clear guidelines and procedures to drive best practice and integrate security as a support to the clinical teams in an environment of recovery. Specialists are required to provide after-hours on-call coverage on a rotation basis for the Security Services department.
Essential Qualifications - Two year Diploma in Protection Security & Investigation, law or service related field
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a security field
- Current license with the Ontario Ministry of Private Security and Investigative Services
- Valid CPR certificate
- First Aid certification
- Experience in leading a service-based team
- Knowledge of a safety culture in a health care setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with team members and other stakeholders
- Exhibits strong self-awareness and reflective practice
- Proven ability to engage and influence team members
- Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict constructively
- Demonstrated ability to hold individuals and teams accountable
- Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills to plan, organize and evaluate the day to day operations
- Strong commitment to continuous quality/process improvement
- Displays commitment to the organization's mission, vision and values
- Proven ability to implement strategies to mitigate risk
Preferred Qualifications - Experience in the development of strong, healthy teams
- Experience working in mental health
- Experience in supervisor role within a health care setting
- Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements - Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (primary series, boosters and/or XBB) OR
- one dose of XBB vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date.
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
