Position Summary
Interior Health is looking to hire a Data and Analytics Student who has experience using Power BI to build reports. This position will be a part of the IH Data Analytics team and will a summer role (May to August)with the work location being flexible.
What will you work on?
The Interior Health Data & Analytics Services (DAS) department includes clinical analytics, business analytics, epidemiology and surveillance, and performance monitoring and reporting teams. The student will be part of the DAS department and participate in team functions. The student will work closely with the Manager for the assigned area as well as internal stakeholders. The student will have opportunity to engage in tasks relevant to their education such as: supporting business cycles, performance monitoring, public and population health surveillance, and analysis and reporting requirements.
Some Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
• Participate and engage in project work. May include project coordination, communication with stakeholders, implementation and evaluation depending on student’s skill set. Assist with data gathering, analysis and reporting as directed by the Manager.
• Create and/or update analytic documentation in alignment with departmental standards.
• Participates in team meetings.
• Other related duties and responsibilities assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications Education, Training and Experience:
Enrolled in a post-secondary degree or advanced diploma (post-degree) with completed course work in a health-related discipline, health administration, epidemiology, data science, mathematics, statistics and/or computer science or equivalent combination of education, qualification and skills.
Demonstrated experience in a complex computer & technical environment. Experience with Excel is required.

• Communication: Concise and effective communication skills, both written and verbal. An ability to professionally engage with team members and stakeholders to execute assigned work.

• Accountability: Responsible for work product / outcomes within scope of duties and under supervision & direction of the assigned Manager.
• Technical: Demonstrated skills and competencies in relevant data management, statistical and/or data visualization software programs such as Excel, SAS, R, Power BI and/or equivalent.
• Physical: Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
Salary range for the position is $22 to $25 p/h and starting salary will be based on education, training and experience.
