We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our team as an AutomationEngineer in North York, ON.
This is an on-site position.
Responsibilities:
Requirement Gathering
- Understand the process requirements based on review of P&IDs, process flows and process narratives to identify impact to the automation control strategy.
- Develop prototypes to demonstrate proof of concepts and refine user requirements.
Technical Activities
- Review functional and detailed design specifications from OEM equipment vendors.
- Review Instrument Data Sheets and ensure applicability & compliance to company guidelines to process.
- Work with integrator to design platform architecture and review vendor designs for adherence to specification.
- Ensure OEM vendor functional sequences provide a solution that conforms to the overall process.
- Review programming, help in debugging in modification of code to include new requirements.
Upgrades/Modifications and Qualification
- Review Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), SAT, Validation protocols documentation to ensure adequate test coverage.
- Provide support to C&Q department for the development of Site Acceptance Test documentation (SATs).
- Support automation system troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Qualifications:
- The minimum requirement for this position is a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Automation, Mechanical, Electrical Technology, Computer Science, or any other related discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of design, implement, commission automated controls systems in the Pharmaceutical, Food & Beverage, Oil & Gas, or Chemical industry.
- Must demonstrate an ability to apply automation solutions and troubleshoot complex problems on highly automated equipment to address business needs.
- Ability to work with DCS, PLC, Historian, SCADA system, communication protocols, and IT infrastructure.
- Must be able to successfully work independently and within teams.
- Must be familiar with current industry practices and guidelines including those required / outlined by the HPFBI, FDA, and EU.
- Must be familiar with the Environmental, Health & Safety Policy.
