Summary of Position: The Senior Architectural Technologist will support the principals on projects. Our client is looking for someone who has experience working with and managing project teams (both internal teams and outside consultants) to coordinate and resolve designs that maintain conceptual clarity and quality in the documents and materials produced.
Role Responsibilities:
- Prepare high quality sets of construction documents and administers construction contracts
- Assist the team to successfully develop and deliver all project requirements (drawings, reports, specifications, etc.) through all project phases from schematic design to close out
- Prepare plans, sections, elevations and views of projects for presentations to clients, authorities and other key external stakeholders
- Advise on the development of the project specifications as they relate to building envelope assemblies, materials and details
- Support the team in the maintenance of project schedule and meeting project objectives and milestones
- Attend coordination meetings when directed by the Project Architect and respond to requests for information
- Mentoring and coaching junior staff
- Attend project and/or site meetings and record the meeting and produce minutes
- Participate in the Construction Contract Administration phase to coordinate and review submittals and Requests for Information
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years experience in the industry, post graduation
- Registered or eligible to be registered as an architectural technologist with the AIBC
- Passionate about design and dedicated to design excellence
- Familiar with all aspects of the architect’s role in the design and construction process
- Knowledgeable of concrete + wood construction as well as building envelope, building detailing and building systems
- Strong knowledgeable of the BC Building Code and VBBL
- Knowledge of sustainable design strategies and superior building energy performance targets
- Highly experienced in REVIT, Adobe suite, Office suite and Bluebeam
- Experience coordinating engineering and consultant teams
- Excellent graphic and written/verbal communication skills
