Registered Nurse IA, Permanent Full Time
Hemodialysis Unit, Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre, Grand Falls Windsor

Definition of work:
This service is fast paced and includes a patient population with high acuity in addition to a chronic stable population. The nursing position in the hemodialysis setting requires the ability to deliver high quality, safe patient care both independently and collaboratively. The registered nurse must apply advanced technical skills through operation of specialized equipment and must display the ability to interpret technical information to provide safe, appropriate clinical interventions. Hemodialysis offers both an exciting and challenging professional work environment. Work involves providing nursing care and treatment services for the Hemodialysis Unit in the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre.

Under the Central Health model of nursing care, the RN is required to provide comprehensive patient care that includes: pre-dialysis patient assessment, completing a plan of care, initiating treatment, monitoring and ongoing assessment during dialysis treatment, discontinuing treatment, post dialysis assessment, evaluation, and appropriate documentation. Significant critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required. On a continual basis throughout the workday, the successful candidate will be responsible to critically assess patients and make appropriate decisions to ensure safe patient outcomes.

The registered nurse will be accountable and responsible to function independently within the daily patient assignment in addition to participating as a collaborative interdisciplinary team member. The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

Required qualifications:
* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
* Current registration with the Association of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador.
* Current BLS certification for health care providers from the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
* Current Health Assessment certification or willingness to complete next available course.
* Two (2) years of clinical experience in Dialysis in the last five (5) years.
* Consistent demonstration of Central Health's corporate values; Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Stewardship and Quality
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.

Hours of work: 75 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)
Salary: NS-29 ($38.93-$48.14)
