Job description

Our client is a rapidly growing global furniture company specializing in modern and transitional furnishings. Reporting to the CFO and Director of Finance, the Junior Accountant will assist in daily accounting tasks, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial transactions. 50% of the role is accounts payable; 30% posting transactions; 10% credit card reconciliation; and 10% miscellaneous duties including assisting with US and CDN payroll.

Location: Scarborough - near Markham Road and Steeles

Work model: Hybrid 2 days in the office after the 3-month probationary period

Work hours: 8:30 to 5 pm Monday to Friday - 40-hour work week

Responsibilities
- Post customer payments and maintain credit card accounts.
- Collect and process employee receipts for credit card transactions.
- Prepare journal entries, analyze accounts, and reconcile credit card transactions.
- Manage documentation for accounts payable and purchasing.
- Monitor and update vendor accounts, addressing discrepancies.
- Maintain vendor files and respond to queries.
- Post transactions to GL accounts and cost centers.
- Process employee payments and support other accounting duties as needed.

Qualifications
- 1-3 years of Finance and Accounting experience.
- Diploma in Accounting/Bookkeeping or equivalent preferred.
- ERP system knowledge. The company currently uses SAP.
- Someone who would like to be cross-trained and groomed in all aspects of accounting under a CPA, Director of Finance.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Can-do attitude to take on other duties that may not be in your job description.
