Job description

Position: Payroll Coordinator/Specialist
Type: Permanent Full-Time
Location: Etobicoke, ON
Salary: $65,000 to $75,000

We are looking for a Payroll Coordinator/ Specialist for one of North America's largest produce wholesalers.

Do you have a minimum of 3 years’ full-cycle payroll processing experience?
Do you have a strong working knowledge of Ceridian DayForce?
Do you have experience processing payroll for a unionized workforce?

Responsibilities
In this Payroll Specialist role in Etobicoke, you will have the following responsibilities:

•Run full-cycle payroll through Ceridian DayForce in an accurate and timely manner on a weekly basis for around 250 employees, union and non-union

•Act as our HRIS specialist for Ceridian Dayforce by troubleshooting, configuring updates and developing process improvements to our existing setup
•Process employee lifecycle items such as new hires, salary increases, personal data changes, transfers, terminations, etc.
•Financial weekly and monthly reporting such as vacation accruals, headcount, pension, union dues, etc.
•Create and automate reports in Ceridian Dayforce
•Auditing of timesheets, time off requests, vacation and sick time balances, etc. for completion and accuracy
•Maintain employee files and records in Ceridian Dayforce
•Process any special payroll payments and/or deductions such as but not limited to garnishments, expenses, pension adjustments, bonuses, etc.
•Preparation and submission of ROE’s
•Preparation and submission of T4’s
•Conduct training and provide guidance to Ceridian Dayforce users
•Draft working instructions for payroll and reporting functions
•Work with Ceridian on any system issues or errors that may arise
•Handle all employee, Service Canada and Statistics Canada requests in a timely and professional manner
•Assist with additional assignments and projects as required

Qualifications
As an ideal candidate for this Payroll Specialist role in Etobicoke, you will demonstrate the following:

MUST HAVES:

- A minimum of 3-5 years’ full cycle payroll processing experience in a standalone capacity.
- Strong working knowledge of Ceridian DayForce
- Experience processing payroll in a unionized workforce
- Post-secondary education, preferably in HR/Payroll
- Must have excellent initiative, be a self-starter with a keen attention to details.

NICE TO HAVE

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- An ability to improve and document payroll processes
- Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll and reporting. Ability to research and keep up to date with changes.
